Hands in the Text is a playfully haptic material poetic meditation on the relationship between late-medieval printed books and contemporary small press poetry. Across 16 pages in a loose-leaf binding, readers are invited to find their own ways through the book via touch and instructive intervention to consider the continued cultural importance of the printed book as a site of individual expression and communal reading.

Becca Drake’s debut pamphlet Unstill Landscapes is published with Guillemot Press and was a BBC Radio Four book of the month. She/they is a poet and medievalist, as well as the founding editor and printer of Little Hirundine. Hands in the Text is commissioned by Senate House Library for their inaugural print residency. In addition to copies on sale here, copies of the book are held in the Senate House archives and can be viewed on request.
